BRAINSTORM is a program that pairs adult mentors from the community—with 2nd grade readers at Price T Young Elementary in an effort to strengthen a child’s reading comprehension, decoding, and critical-thinking skills. Mission Marshall mentoring pairs meet for approximately 45 minutes per week for 6-8 weeks each semester. During the sessions, trained mentors utilize structured guides with teaching prompts that align with a student magazine to implement a fun, skill-building literacy lesson.
